Bangkokthonburi\u00a0 University<\/strong> was formally approved by the Higher Education Commission and was later granted\u00a0 permission on June 11, 2009 by the Minister of Education
\n(Mr.Jurin Laksanavisit) to change its status from Bangkokthonburi College to Bangkokthonburi University (BTU).<\/p>\n

Bangkokthonburi University (previously called Bangkokthonburi College) was founded on January 28, 2002 by Dr.Bang-orn Benjathikul who realized the paramount importance of human resource development of the nation and strongly desired to meet the need of the community, the\u00a0 students\u2019 parents,\u00a0 the\u00a0 alumni\u00a0 of\u00a0 Krungthep\u00a0 Commercial\u00a0 School\u00a0 and polytechnic Krungthep Commercial School, as well as the youths and the people throughout the region.<\/p>\n

She has high hope that all those people would be given an opportunity to pursue their advanced studies at BTU which aspires\u00a0 to become a center of body of superb knowledge in a wide variety of disciplines; the knowledge would be imparted to the students by scholars.\u00a0 Above all, people from all walks of life will be given on equal opportunity to study at the University so that they can enhance their capabilities and morality and finally lead a life beneficial to Thai society and the nation.\u00a0 Thus it would be in accordance with the University\u2019s motto which says: \u201cBuild Intellect, Man, Morals.\u201d
\nBangkokthonburi is located in two areas having 219 rai,\u00a03 ngan, and 94 square wah in totality.\u00a0 The first area is located at 16\/10 Moo. 2,Liab\u00a0 Klong Taweewattana Road, Taweewattana Subdistrict, Taweewattana District, Bangkok 10170; the area has 188 rai, 2 ngan, and 8 square wah.\u00a0 And the second area is located at Sra-Krajome Subdistrict, Don Jedi District, Suphanburi Province; the area has 31 rai,1 ngan, 86 square wah. Since the first area of BTU is located in the suburban area of Bangkok, it is very convenient for commuters in that they can travel to BTU by car, bus\u00a0 and other kinds of vehicles with ease.\u00a0 Surrounded by various government agencies, BTU is in a better position to perform the four-fold functions of the university as stipulated\u00a0 by\u00a0 the Education Ministry without any difficulty.<\/p>\n

Since Bangkokthonburi College\u00a0 came into existence several years ago, the institution has perfectly performed the four functions stated by the Education Ministry.\u00a0 BTU has performed its functions with great effectiveness and efficiency.\u00a0 That is to say, it provides quality learning and teaching activities to the students; it encourages and supports faculty members to undertake research; it makes all efforts to provide academic services to the community and external organizations; and it is continually involved in the promotion and preservation of Thai culture.\u00a0 As a result, BTU\u2019s performance has been\u00a0 recognized\u00a0 by the community, the society and the nation. BTU has a strong conviction to expand its educational activities to reach the people in all regions of the country, hoping that all Thai people would have an equal opportunity to gain access to quality education and to become well-informed\u00a0 about the changing world.<\/p>\n
