Suranaree University of Technology

For the past 20 years, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), has been acting as a role model in implementing and fulfilling its missions. As a public autonomous university under the Royal Thai Government supervision, SUT has enjoyed the benefits of flexibility, academic freedom, and educational management under the trimester system which is conducive to cooperative education. This innovation was pioneered by SUT in order for students to learn firsthand from experience in the workplace.

From its first operation in 1993 to 2008, SUT has so far produced 11 classes of Bachelors, 8 classes of Masters, and 8 classes of doctoral graduates. SUT graduates of all levels show higher rates of employment and starting salary than normal criteria, and are well recognized by their employers and entrepreneurs alike in term of their hard work, diligence, perseverance, morality, professional ethics, and skills.

Suranaree University of Technology is determined to achieve excellence in learning and teaching activities, and progress as a research university by strengthening its research activities. Though supports with resources, SUT seeks enhance research potentials, create new researchers, and produce quality research products beneficial to society. The university research results have been satisfactory and well- accepted by the public. By considering research potential as a ratio of the faculty to funded research projects, it was found that in the fiscal year of 2008, the ratio was 1.53:1, an excellent ratio, with good future trends and prospects.

In addition, SUT also places high importance on academic services and preservation of arts and culture on a continual basis. Various forms of academic services have been offered, with increasing number of clients annually. The university supports activities related to the preservation of arts, and culture and tradition, held by both students and local communities making the university a part of its communities on a permanent basis.

In late 2007 and early 2008, SUT had been honored by participating as co-host for 24th SEA GAME and 4th ASIAN PARA GAMES. This is a showcase of the university potentials for national and international events. All of this , without exception , will not have been possible without the cooperation and concerted effort from the faculty, staff, and student body. This is, of course, a reflection of continuous improvements of the university in efficiently implementing all of its missions to move forward according to the university’s pledges, promises, and commitments.
